Retrofitting Existing Buildings

Communities consist of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. Most of these buildings are old and energy inefficient, waste energy and money, and represent an untapped opportunity to mitigate climate change by retrofitting the buildings.

Modernizing a building may include combined heat and power facilities, gas driven chilled water generation for air conditioning, energy up grades such as whole building air sealing, floor slab insulation, lighting fixture replacement, and networked programmable thermostats.

In addition, there are special grants, rebates, and other benefits that improve the economics.

Sources of debt financing are available which can be structure into Energy Service Agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, or simple lease arrangements that take advantage of Demand Response Programs and other incentive programs.
